Brief Description
Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain.We support the Routes with a myriad of services and supplies they need to maintain and operate the railway To learn more, please click here to watch our video.
This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video Working in Supply Chain Operations

About The Role (External)
Infrastructure Monitoring (IM) is a process whereby the condition and integrity of NR infrastructure is measured. Over 300,000 miles of infrastructure is measured each year via a dedicated Fleet owned, planned and delivered by the Supply Chain Operations, Infrastructure Monitoring Team. Data is collected, processed and analysed to monitor compliance, and inform engineers of asset condition, ensuring Network Rail’s infrastructure remains safe and compliant for operation.
The role is within the Programme Team working to modernise the IM service for the future. It will be actively involved in the procurement of a new IM service, whilst leading the transition and change requirements to transform the service from its current to future state
You will manage the development and delivery of a programme of projects to agreed scope, time, cost and quality requirements, working with business customers and their representatives.
Key Accountabilities
* Deliver a portfolio of programmes and/or projects.
* Implement an assurance framework and KPIs for programme management activities.
* Develop and implement relevant programme management standards, processes and procedures.
* Develop and deliver a specific programme/project on time, to budget and to other agreed success criteria, within corporate guidelines.
* Produce investment plans for the programme in accordance with Investment Regulations.
* Deliver the effective development and management of suppliers and staff to meet all corporate rules and means of control (including standards), in particular those relating to safety, quality and environment, and disseminate lessons learned.
* Deliver the effective development and management of suppliers to meet programme requirements.
* Establish and manage collaborative cross-functional virtual teams to deliver change projects, where appropriate.
* Identify and implement quality and efficiency improvement initiatives.
* Develop the capability and professional development of staff within the programme and project management teams.
* Liaise with internal and external customers to address customer needs by fully understanding them and taking them into consideration in any strategic or policy changes that may arise.
* Discharge Network Rail's CDM related duties as required by company process.
Essential
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
* Excellent interpersonal, management and communication skills
* Substantial proven experience in programme management
* Excellent knowledge of programme and project controls processes and systems
* Proven experience in managing and developing teams to achieve high performance
* Proven ability to work with senior industry stakeholders to understand their requirements
* Membership of a relevant professional body
Desirable
* Chartered status
* Knowledge of the rail industry and its regulatory framework
* Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures
* Experience of working in a commercial environment in a programme management role

Vacancy type: This role is permanent.
Location: This position is based in Derby or Milton Keynes with frequent travel between the two sites, in line with our fatigue management process
Hours: up to 35 hours per week with hybrid working and travel as required. Flexible working can be considered.
Salary range: £71,163 to £81,661 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Drugs and Alcohol Standard:
For some of our roles all prospective external candidates offered a conditional role will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test.
