Advanced Specialist, Product Management, MFL and English Teaching and Learning The Modern Foreign Languages and English team creates and manages engaging, effective and innovative resources for teachers and learners across Secondary French, German and Spanish, Secondary English and Primary Literacy. About the role We are looking for a publishing professional to join us as an Advanced Specialist for a 12-month maternity cover role. The role aligns to industry-level titles such as Product Manager. A key part of this role will be to lead the delivery of one or more of our market-leading digital services or components, balancing customer insight and business needs to inform your decisions. You'll lead a team of internal and external editors and liaise with colleagues in our digital, design, delivery and supplier teams. You will be an excellent communicator and a proactive problem-solver and will be responsible for ensuring your projects are launched on time, to budget and to the highest levels of quality. This role would suit someone with some product management experience or an experienced editor looking to take the next step in their career. A day in the life of an Advanced Specialist During a typical working week, you might carry out some of the following activities: Lead delivery of your assigned project(s), leading editorial teams and working closely with external suppliers to ensure content and digital build meet expected quality standards and deadlines Manage and proactively solve day-to-day project issues and risks Carry out research with teachers and students, developing and maintaining a deep understanding of their needs and pain points Put together a business case for a new product that meets both customer needs and business goals Maintain the budget for your project(s) with a tight focus on costs Work collaboratively with other Specialists within and outside our immediate team to ensure your assigned projects fits seamlessly with our platforms, digital tools and other parts of the project Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as digital teams, design, sales and marketing. It is essential that you: Have experience of working in an educational publishing environment, in either a publishing / product management or editorial role Have experience of working on digital publishing projects Have a great track record of delivering projects on time, to budget and to a high quality Are confident in using a variety of digital tools and platforms Understand the needs of teachers and learners at Secondary and/or Primary level Are passionate about finding ways to make teachers' lives easier and improve learning experiences and outcomes for students Enjoy working collaboratively with people in a wide variety of roles and are also able to take a lead in your assigned area of responsibility Are able to remain focused and organised while juggling multiple projects and deadlines Are flexible and willing to work across the different subjects and age groups in our list (MFL, Secondary English, Primary Literacy) It would be an advantage if you also: Speak one or more of French, Spanish and German - although this is not essential for the right candidate Have experience working on products for at least one of the main markets we serve (MFL, Secondary English, Primary Literacy) Have a strong understanding of editorial processes Role location This is a hybrid working role across home and office locations in Oxford or London, with 1 day per week in the office (or more if desired).
