The role:

The main purpose of this role is to support and continually evolve SJP’s approach and capabilities in IT Disaster Recovery, chaos testing, and technical resiliency. To ensure the DR plans and tests are appropriate and leverage the evolving capabilities as implemented.

Interface with the Business Continuity & Operational Resilience teams, providing information as required and input on policies, tolerances, and thresholds related to IT systems within SJP estate.

You will oversee how the Group complies with and evidences IT testing as required by the regulator and work with suppliers to understand future strategies in this space.

What you'll be doing:

* Fully understand FCA and PRA regulatory requirements concerning technical disaster recovery and resilience.
* Understand AWS tools and capabilities regarding zone and region resiliency and how that applies to our estate, enabling risk assessment and communication.
* Assess the technical architecture of critical services to ensure they meet resiliency standards.
* Research, recommend, and apply new techniques for DR testing (chaos engineering, fault injection, etc.) to adapt to changing architecture and technologies.
* Promote recommendations and changes to improve resiliency and recovery for critical services and develop business cases as needed.
* Implement and optimize the use of AWS Resilience Hub to assess and improve application resilience through failure scenario testing, identifying weaknesses, and remediating issues.
* Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks and high availability concerns, and suggest improvements.
* Create and maintain disaster recovery strategies and high-availability architectures, leveraging AWS services like Route 53, Auto Scaling, and Elastic Load Balancing.
* Collaborate with development teams and Cybersecurity to ensure services are designed for reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
* Develop and implement testing approaches aligned with the technology and architecture of critical applications in AWS.
* Oversee the quality of detailed DR plans, especially from a technical accuracy perspective.
* Coordinate with Business Continuity and Operational Resilience teams, providing updates as needed.

Who we're looking for:

We seek a proactive, detail-oriented leader with strong problem-solving and communication skills. The ideal candidate will drive technical resilience, collaborate across teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance disaster recovery strategies to strengthen the reliability and security of critical services.

* Certified in AWS, including but not limited to AWS Certified DevOps Engineer and/or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
* Strong experience with Chaos Engineering, including AWS Resilience Hub and Fault Injection Service.
* Deep knowledge of AWS technologies such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, VPC, and CloudFormation.
* Proficiency in Terraform, Python, and PowerShell.
* Experience with AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery.
* Solutions Architect Professional and DevOps Professional Certifications preferred.
* Experience in Financial Services or regulated industries is advantageous.

Special Requirements:

* Travel may be required for supplier service review meetings.
