 
        
        Consultant Breast Radiologist – DenialHost
Job Summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Consultant Radiologist to work within a cohesive and supportive multi‑disciplinary team, to provide a quality service in our breast symptomatic and screening services. The Breast Unit has seen a progressive rise in symptomatic referrals in recent years leading to a steady increase in demand. A highly skilled breast radiologist with specialised training is required. Funding available for up to a 10 PA consultant breast radiologist position, expected to read a minimum of 5,000 cases per annum. The department screens the eligible populations of Gateshead, North Durham and Sunderland over a 3‑year cycle, screening approximately 35,000 women per year.
Main Duties
 * Contribute to the team of breast radiologists in screen reading, assessment, symptomatic work and localisations.
 * Actively contribute to the multi‑professional team, demonstrating respect and inclusion of all disciplines and roles.
 * Participate in and contribute to the appropriate clinical and educational activities of the Breast Unit.
 * Participate in managerial, teaching and regular audit activities of the Breast Unit.
 * Contribute to MDT work of the breast unit.
 * Support weekend screening clinics for radiographers (seven‑day working not yet implemented).
 * There is no on‑call commitment associated with this post.
Person Specification – Essential
 * Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
 * UK trained and holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award.
 * FRCR.
 * Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
 * Evidence of participation in multidisciplinary teamwork.
 * Leadership skills, e.g., supervision of junior colleagues.
 * Meet GMC's Good Medical Practice requirements.
 * Evidence of participation in clinical audit.
 * Understanding of clinical governance and readiness to accept responsibility.
 * Demonstrable written and spoken English skills adequate to communicate about medical topics.
Person Specification – Desirable
 * Postgraduate degree (MD, PhD, MSc).
 * Appropriate specialised training in breast radiology.
 * Wide experience in general radiology.
 * Evidence of track record of encouraging and sustaining a positive culture within units.
 * Commitment to work flexibly depending on service pressures.
 * Calm response to stressful situations, capacity to take responsibility for own actions, excellent team player demonstrating respect for all.
