Ashfield Medical Centre is a very busy and friendly GP Practice in Milton Keynes. We are currently looking to add to our fabulous reception team with an afternoon receptionist. Hours to be worked at 1pm till 7pm Monday to Friday (with the possibility of overtime covering the morning shift of 8am till 1pm as required). We would prefer that you have experience of working within a GP Practice environment or previous NHS experience and working knowledge of Systm1 but full training can be provided in any case for the right candidate. The job is demanding but rewarding so great teamwork and a good sense of humour will be essential! Starting salary £12.21 per hour rising to £12.75 per hour after successful completion of the probationary period.
Main duties of the job
Key skills required for the role included face to face engagement with the public, excellent telephone manner, clear and precise typing and writing, ability to work on own or as part of a team, knowledge of medical terminology and ability to raise prescriptions ready for electronic signing. Out reception team also work as chaperones when required for the GPs and Nursing Team. All necessary training will be provided. This list is not exhaustive.

Duties and responsibilities:

* Openingup/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordancewith Practice protocols
* Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointments system
* Processingpersonal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephoneconsultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriatehealthcare professional
* Processingand distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
* Takingmessages and passing on information
* Filingand retrieving paperwork
* Processingrepeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
* Computerdata entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recordinginformation in accordance with practice procedures
* Initiatingcontact with and responding to requests from patients, other team memberand associated healthcare agencies and providers
* Clearingand re-stock consulting rooms as required
* Providingclerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time,including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
