Location: Derbyshire Area - Derby, Heanor, Ripley, Bolsover & Chesterfield
Hours: Full-Time, Part-Time and Casual positions available

Salary: £24,800.36 per annum or £12.89 per hour

Do you want to make a difference to people’s lives? Then come and join Autism East Midlands as an Autism Support Worker! This is a role where you will support autistic people with a variety of activities they enjoy and encourage independent living skills.

You’ll find this is a rewarding job with daily variety. You will be supporting people by providing holistic care including personal care, medication administration, integration into the local community and helping manage anxieties, including distressing behaviour.

No experience is necessary, as full training is given. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, who shares our values and can develop their skills with us. If you have experience as a support worker, care assistant, nursery assistant, or personal care assistant or have worked in the NHS, health care or social care, this position will be suited to you too.


Responsibilities

* To ensure high standards of professional care and practice for service users, including independent living, physical, cultural, social, learning, vocational, recreational and emotional needs.
* To maintain high standards of cleanliness across the setting, mindful of IPC measures.
* Adhere to positive working relationships with service users, families and team members; know your own limitations and seek support when required.
* Familiarise with Autism East Midlands systems and processes in delivering high standards of care and support.
* Ensure all records are up to date, secure and confidential, adhering to GDPR.
* Liaise with families, the clinical team and external agencies professionally and record appropriately within confidentiality bounds.
* Develop understanding of autism and implement in practice.
* Develop understanding of CALM and Positive Behaviour Support and embed within the service.
* Complete all elements of the Care Certificate and mandatory training.
* Access internal IT systems regularly and log incidents on reporting systems.
* Ensure compliance with service finance procedures.
* Work flexibly according to rota, contract terms, and manager direction.
* Communicate effectively within the team to ensure continuity of care.
* Develop understanding of communication methods used by those supported.
* Work safely, following individual support plans, risk assessments, and company policies and procedures.
* Provide personal care when required and support in line with individual support plans.
* Adhere to the Autism East Midlands Code of Conduct.
