The Lake District National Park Authority is looking for an organised individual to help us digitise their planning documents. We have received funding to complete and publish four planning datasets, for tree protection orders, listed buildings, article 4 directions and conservation areas. Lots of this information is stored in paper documents and requires digitisation. You'll be working closely with our Development Management Team, Strategy Team and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Team. You will gain experience in GIS, digitising, and an understanding of the importance of data standards. The role Your work will help make planning information open and accessible. Your main task will be to review and interpret paper and digital planning documents, extracting key information and entering it into our Geographic Information System (GIS) to meet national standards. Full support, training and an induction on how to digitise planning documents to the required standard will be given, including how to use GIS for this task. Key tasks
* Retrieve, scan, and correctly label planning documents from both paper archives and digital systems, ensuring they meet required standards.
* Review and interpret planning documents, extracting key information and entering it into our Geographic Information System (GIS).
* Use GIS to check, update, and input attribute data for four core datasets, including Tree Protection Orders, Listed Buildings, Article 4 Directions, and Conservation Areas.

* A good standard of computer literacy, including the ability to file documents.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience
* Knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office
* Experience of digital mapping or GIS (desired but not essential)
