We are seeking an exceptional
Director of Philanthropy
to join our Executive Leadership Team at a pivotal moment for our organisation. As we approach our 80th anniversary, our work to combat growing populism and polarisation is more critical than ever. This newly-created post offers a rare opportunity to help shape our future, combining strategic leadership with diplomacy and creativity in partnership-building to expand our reach and impact.
What you'll do
Reporting to the Chief Executive
, you will drive an ambitious £5m fundraising strategy over the next three years, working with the Programme Director, Trustees, and colleagues across the organisation. Harnessing our unique heritage and reputation, you will build powerful relationships with Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs), corporate leaders, and foundations. As a dynamic ambassador for Cumberland Lodge, you will inspire support through persuasive advocacy, creative partnerships, and bespoke events, while mentoring the Memberships and Outreach Officer to maximise our fundraising impact.
Who you are
You will be a visionary thinker and confident communicator, with a proven track record of securing major philanthropic gifts and building high-value partnerships. With experience in fundraising, business development, or high-value sales, you will bring demonstrable success in engaging UHNWIs and major donors, alongside strong networking, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. A strategic mindset and the ability to deliver against ambitious financial targets are essential, as is creativity and confidence in designing impactful events and engagement opportunities. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills will enable you to inspire confidence at the highest level.
Knowledge of philanthropy and corporate partnerships is required, and experience within a heritage, education, or hospitality setting would be an advantage.
