Job Description
On an exclusive basis, greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a Financial Controller for a growing healthcare business based in Birmingham.
This role will grow to Finance Director for the right candidate.
Duties of the role will include:
* Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the finance department, including oversight of the finance team.
* Provide mentorship and development to team members to build capability and resilience within the department.
* Act as the primary point of contact for internal financial queries and external auditors when the FD is unavailable.
* Support the development and delivery of the organisation's medium- and long-term financial strategy.
* Lead on financial planning and forecasting processes, including annual budgets, reforecasts, and business plans.
* Provide financial insight and modelling to support strategic decision-making across the organisation.
* Maintain robust financial control frameworks, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
* Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimisation, and treasury oversight.
* Ensure timely and accurate monthly management accounts, board reports, and statutory accounts.
* Support or lead audit processes, liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.
* Work closely with operational leads to provide clear financial analysis, challenge assumptions, and improve financial understanding across the business.
* Develop financial dashboards, KPIs, and performance reporting to drive accountability and informed decision-making.
* Assess business cases, investment decisions, and contract reviews with a strategic financial lens.
* Drive improvements in finance systems, automation, and reporting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
* Take a lead on finance transformation and change management initiatives.
* Attend senior leadership and board meetings as required, representing the finance function with credibility and professionalism.
* Provide continuity of leadership in the absence of the FD.
Skills, Qualifications, Requirements
* Fully qualified ACA/ ACCA/ ACMA
* Significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance role
* Demonstrable experience of managing finance operations and leading teams
* Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
* Personnel management and leadership
