We're looking for an Assistant Head of Pentathlon to help deliver our comprehensive pentathlon, triathlon, and swimming programs. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Pentathlon to coach, coordinate, and develop our athletes, contributing to the continued success of the school's sports program and the Leweston Pentathlon Academy.
Key Responsibilities
•Coaching & Athlete Development:
oCoordinate training schedules and competitions for athletes, including regular trips to Yeovil Athletics Track and Bath Swords.
oAssist in running the school's pentathlon and triathlon programs, working directly with students and clients.
oEnsure the safe movement and arrival of our younger pupils around the school site as they attend Pentathlon focused training sessions.
oHelp deliver our strength and conditioning program and ensure all equipment is well-maintained.
oDeliver engaging coaching sessions across all pentathlon disciplines.
•Program & Event Management:
oUnder the direction of the Head of Pentathlon support the day-to-day management of the department.
oAssist with the planning and execution of internal and external sporting events (e.g., National Triathle), which will include some weekend work.
oHelp maintain fencing and shooting equipment to ensure safety and readiness.
•Community & Administrative Duties:
oAct as a key link between the school and the Leweston Pentathlon Academy.
oAssist with the marketing of pentathlon events to attract participants and spectators.
oSupport the overall delivery of the school's swimming program.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Essential
•A passion for pentathlon and a desire to inspire young athletes.
•A strong commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
•UK driving licence and a willingness to drive school minibus (training provided)
Desired
•Relevant sports coaching certifications.
•A current First Aid Certification.
•Basic IT skills (e.g., for scheduling and communication).
Working Hours: 36 hours per week, term time only (34 weeks per year). Additionally, the role includes approximately 15 days of weekend work—equating to 120 hours—typically for Pentathlon events and competitions, the pay for which is included in the salary. These dates will be agreed upon with the Head of Pentathlon. There is also an opportunity for additional holiday work to support Pentathlon training camps.
