We are looking for a highly motivated midwife/obstetric sonographer to join our team of midwife sonographers at the obstetric ultrasound department/fetal medicine unit at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
Raigmore Hospital provides midwifery, obstetric and neonatal care to pregnant women and their families living in the Scottish Highlands. The team of 4 midwife sonographers generates approximately 11,000 scans per year and is supported by an independent and progressive lead midwife sonographer.
Responsibilities
* Conduct all obstetric examinations, including RCOG guidance on MCA PI and UAPI screening for small for gestational age babies.
* Perform EPAU, fetal medicine, maternal medicine, twins and specialist ANC scans, including screening pathway scans and general obstetric growth scans using the GROW package.
* Produce diagnostic reports that provide clinicians with accurate clinical findings.
* Participate in peer review and audit to maintain a high professional standard.
* Provide teaching and mentorship, and undertake audit when required.
Qualifications
* Qualified midwife or having a relevant degree level qualification leading to a PGC minimum in obstetric ultrasound.
* Evidence of performance in the quality assurance of first trimester screening (e.g., DQASS plot or equivalent).
* Up-to-date practice and willingness to undertake audit, teaching and mentorship.
* Capability to work independently and produce diagnostic reports.
Additional Information
* Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours, with part‑time hours adjusted pro‑rata and an increased hourly rate to maintain pay.
* Part‑time/job share hours are considered; a relocation package may be available.
