The Library and Information Assistant (LIA) role is challenging and varied. LIAs are responsible for providing frontline services to customers, local residents and visitors at libraries across Swindon. LIAs help customers and residents to access physical and online information. LIAs support customers and residents in their use of IT and encourage reading and lifelong learning.
Your next role
LIAs deliver children’s activities e.g. story times and class visits as well as supporting other library promotional events. They also support volunteers and volunteer activities.
LIAs may be asked to work at any branch across the Swindon Library network.
Successful candidates will need excellent communication and IT skills as well as good levels of literacy and numeracy. An awareness of the services the library provides and an interest in books and lifelong learning is desirable.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
This post is fixed term until 31 March 2026.
