Information Advice & Guidance Officer - Employment Support
Job description
Opportunity Sheffield, part of Sheffield City Council's Employment & Skills Service, has secured funding through the Economic Inactivity Trailblazer and UKSPF to support adults and young people across Sheffield in moving into meaningful paid employment. The employment support projects focus on targeted groups, including individuals with health requirements, people on probation, and socially excluded individuals.
We are seeking enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, and forward-thinking Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) Officers to join our team. These roles will provide professional and impartial IAG services to those seeking employment, primarily supporting unemployed and economically inactive residents to engage with training and employment opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Delivering professional and impartial IAG for participants accessing employment support through Opportunity Sheffield.
2. Collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure high-quality IAG services.
3. Connecting participants with opportunities that enhance their progression towards meaningful employment.
4. Promoting the service and programme offerings to participants.
5. Supporting learners in progressing to employment initiatives or further learning.
6. Understanding the programme to support delivery targets effectively.
7. Contributing to the continuous improvement of employment projects.
8. Planning and organizing workload efficiently.
9. Working with the Strategic Support Co-ordinator to find innovative responses to local employment demands.
10. Identifying risks and opportunities for programme management.
The closing date for applications is Friday 19th September, with interviews scheduled for the week commencing 6th October. The role is expected to start as soon as possible after appointment.

Additional Information
This is a full-time role, with a 37-hour workweek. We offer a generous holiday entitlement and are open to flexible working options, including part-time, reduced hours, or job sharing. Starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade unless payslip evidence indicates a higher basic pay. Please note that pay arrangements may change from 2026 following evaluation processes.
