We're currently recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a leading main contractor who specialises in high value commercial projects across the UK.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor supports the commercial team in delivering projects while ensuring commercial processes are followed to maximise profitability and recover variation costs where applicable. The role involves working closely with the Quantity Surveyor and wider project team, with exposure to both client and subcontractor interactions.
Reporting to the Quantity Surveyor or Project Lead, the successful candidate will assist in managing the commercial aspects of one or more projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and issue of subcontract tender packages in line with contract conditions and company procedures
* Support the evaluation of subcontract tender returns
* Attend pre-contract and post-contract meetings, both internally and externally
* Produce and issue subcontract orders, ensuring accurate records are maintained
* Assist in the administration of subcontract accounts, including valuation, remeasurement and certification of payments
* Support the agreement of contract variations and preparation of forecast final accounts
* Carry out material take-offs as required
* Assist with weekly and monthly valuations for subcontractors and suppliers
Daily Activities
* Supporting subcontractor management
* Assisting with client account administration
* Providing support to the Quantity Surveyor
Monthly Activities
* Assist with the preparation of monthly cost reports in line with reporting deadlines
* Support the submission of external valuations to clients
* Assist in the preparation and issue of client invoices where required
* Evaluate subcontractor applications and assist with payment and pay less notices
* Support internal and external valuation processes
* Assist with project cash flow management by monitoring costs and maximising value
* Support procurement activities and monitor procurement schedules
* Assist with the management of onsite materials
* Maintain regular communication with the client and project team to support delivery on time and within budget
* Ensure all systems and records are kept up to date
Additional Duties
* Attend client and progress meetings
* Support pre-construction activities where required
* Carry out ad hoc duties in line with the needs of the project
