The Fierté Trust are looking to appoint a dynamic, well-organised, reliable and enthusiastic individual to head the catering department at Anker Valley Academy. Duties and Responsibilities: Support to School (this list is not exhaustive and should reflect the ethos of the school) Job Role The responsibilities include: • Line manage and develop the successful team • Work in line with the Fierté food expectations providing fresh, nutritious and well-presented meals, suitable for children from the ages of 2 to 11, and the school staff. • Promoting and encouraging healthy food choices • Support the catering manager in developing interesting menus, with costings, for breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and school functions • Being aware of and catering for children’s special dietary requirements and allergies • Maintaining a high standard of hygiene always and following infection / cross contamination control procedures • Undertake all essential legally required training • Complete all catering risk assessments on a daily, monthly and annual basis to comply with all EHO requirements and keep up to date with all new legislation • Ensure compliance with all Catering, Health and Safety and Food legislation • Ensure ordering procedures meet with financial regulations required by the Trust • Being responsible for ordering and maintaining stock levels • Working within the school’s budget for food, sundries and labour • Be responsible for deployment of staff to meet the needs of the business and budgets. • Support the catering manager in ensuring all costings provide the best value and are reviewed regularly • Support the catering manager in creating a growing catering specification manual • Reporting any building or equipment faults to the catering manager be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. In addition to fulfilling the Person Specification, the successful candidate will: Experience and Skills Desired: • Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate • Qualifications in catering • Previous kitchen experience to a high level • Excellent communicator at all levels • Good general business acumen • Works well under pressure • Have a friendly and approachable demeanor • Responsibility for the development of staff through the staff development process • Able to work well upon own initiative and to lead and inspire others Hold a full driving license.
