Lead Electrical Engineer
Petrochemical & Oil, Gas
Hull,
Full time, permanent
Are you a proven electrical engineering leader who enjoys taking ownership, setting standards and shaping how a discipline operates? This is an opportunity to head up the electrical function within a growing engineering, procurement and construction specialist that delivers complex projects across oil and gas, petrochemical, energy and other high‑hazard process industries.
This business is a new breed of EPC provider, taking next‑generation energy concepts and turning them into operational reality through innovative engineering, smart use of digital tools and close partnership with clients and vendors. They challenge traditional ways of delivering projects to unlock operational and commercial efficiencies, and their consulting team is viewed as a technical centre of excellence within the wider group.
As Lead Electrical Engineer, you will manage the electrical department day‑to‑day, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the right technical quality while maintaining strict compliance with UK and international standards, regulations and HSEQ expectations. You will approve key electrical deliverables (drawings, calculations, reports, risk assessments), act as the authority for resolving discipline technical issues, and drive continuous improvement of standards, templates and processes.
You will work closely with other engineering disciplines, Project Delivery, Sales and Resourcing, as well as directly interfacing with clients and vendors, often supporting projects from concept and feasibility through FEED, detailed design and into commissioning. The environment actively encourages bold, free and disruptive thinking, offering flexibility, empowerment and clear career development for people who want to make a visible impact.
To thrive here, you will bring substantial design experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, energy or chemical projects, ideally across the full project lifecycle in a consultancy or EPC(M) setting, alongside deep knowledge of LV and HV systems, protection, and relevant British, European and international electrical codes and standards. You will be commercially aware, highly self‑driven and capable of coaching and developing others while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
If you are ready to build a genuine technical centre of excellence and shape how electrical engineering is delivered in a forward‑thinking EPC environment, this role will give you the autonomy and platform to do it.
