Generator Mechanic - Valid UK Citizenship and 5+ Year Footprint & BPSS Required.
Reports to: Site Lead / O&M Manager
Location: Erbil, Iraq
Leave: 12 weeks on, 3 weeks off
Salary: Up to £80,000 (Taxable) + £6,000 bonus each year (Pro-rated from start date)
Paritas is working with a long-standing Defence and Facilities Management client who is looking to bring a Generator Mechanic on board for an ongoing project in Erbil, Iraq. Candidates must be a UK Citizen with a 5+ Year footprint in the UK for Security Clearance.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
* Recognised and accredited trade qualifications at City & Guilds standards or higher
* Exceptional fault-finding and diagnostic skills for both mechanical and electrical components on prime power and standby generators
* Supervisory experience with strong communication skills
* Proven ability to apply good environmental practices in tasks performed, including investigating accidents and incidents, conducting risk assessments and risk control, and complying with UK health and safety legislation
Desirable:
* Experience working in challenging remote locations or developing countries
* Completed familiarisation courses and product training on Caterpillar prime mover units, FG Wilson Generators and Perkins prime mover units and Woodward control gear, electronic engine controls
* Proficiency in load bank testing
* Familiar with engine diagnostic tools, such as Perkins electronic service tool and CAT electronic technician
* Electrical qualification demonstrating competence and knowledge of IEE regulations at the 18th Edition
* Possess or have previously held a MOD Authorised Persons certificate in disciplines such as Mechanical and Petroleum
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
* Perform generator maintenance and servicing within contracted timeframes
* Evaluate and complete tasks with motivation and competence
* Manage generation and mechanical works
* Ensure and promote high standards of mechanical hygiene to prevent contamination of prime mover units.
* Carry out planned and reactive repairs on contracted generators and associated fuel systems
* Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and implement safe systems of work
* Arrange for generator repairs to be undertaken and satisfactorily completed within contracted timescales
* Initiate and order materials via the Stores Request Service
* Conduct ad-hoc and weekly toolbox talks
* Deliver pre-shift briefs and specific task instructions as required
