Job overview

The post holder will be expected to: Be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by using professional judgement and assuming
responsibility and accountability for assessing, implementing and evaluating clinical care for patients to meet their needs in a safe caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy and respect.
Develop knowledge and skills within the speciality and will assist in the management and organisation of nursing work in the ward/department within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Supervise the working of health care assistants and support workers and support the training and assessment of student nurses.
Demonstrate the trust values and behaviours for nursing and midwifery staff at all times.
Demonstrate a duty of care to patients and comply fully with best practice standards and trust policies for personal and patient safety and the prevention of healthcare associated infections.

Main duties of the job

1. The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will deliver quality care at all times
2. The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be aware of cost improvement and stock rotation issues within the department
3. The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will recognise signs of change in the patients condition and act according to extent of role
4. The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be accountable for their own learning and training
5. The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be required input the staff roster
6. The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be required to complete audits
7. Health and Safety guidelines must be followed at all times
8. The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be aware of their limitations in practice
9. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time

Ability to work under pressure and cope with potentially distressing/emotionally demanding situations.
