Crybaby is an exciting, vibrant bar located in the heart of Stockbridge, currently undergoing an exciting period of growth following a recent menu redevelopment. We are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable Kitchen Assistant / Commis Chef to join our expanding team and support our Head Chef in delivering high-quality food.
This position is ideal for someone with previous kitchen experience who is eager to continue developing their skills and progress within a growing business. As trade continues to increase week by week, there will be opportunities for greater responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
* Preparing sauces, dishes, and ingredients for service
* Preparing garnishes and mise en place
* Supporting with basic kitchen porter duties when required
* Assisting during service, primarily on the fryer section
* Independently managing quieter shifts when needed
What we're looking for:
* Minimum 2 years' experience working in a professional kitchen
* Strong, practical understanding of kitchen operations and service flow
* Food Health & Safety Level 2 certification
* Based in Edinburgh or able to reliably commute
* Confident working independently when required
* Experience with brunch-style menus
* Ambitious, capable, and interested in developing into a leadership role
* This position is best suited to someone already confident in their abilities who is ready to step up, with the potential to train into a senior/supervisor role.
