Overview

A day in the life of an Ascent FJT QSFI on the Fast Jet Training (FJT) Squadron at RAF Valley. You will be part of a small niche team delivering world class flying training to Military and Ascent aircrew on the Hawk TMk2.

You will:

* Assist the Chief Pilot in supervision and management of the FJT QSFI Team at RAF Valley
* Instruct relevant aspects of the FJT syllabus to high instructional standards; the majority of the role focuses on delivering synthetic instruction, but it may also include the delivery of phase briefs, technical lessons and practical demonstrations
* Conduct other tasks related to Hawk TMk2 training as directed
* Assist Curriculum Design as Hawk TMk2 Subject Matter Expert (SME) in development and maintenance of FJT courseware
* Lead the team locally, working with the Transformation Programme Manager to drive the use of emerging technologies to enhance and evolve fast jet training in UKMFTS, including use of Mixed and Augmented Reality solutions

Application requirements

Essential:

* Previous experience as a Fast Jet QFI or Instructor Pilot in a military flying training school
* Relevant management/supervisory experience in a highly challenging, highly structured learning environment
* Computer fluency to include Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and Explorer

Desirable:

* Previous 4th/5th Gen front-line fast-jet experience
* QWI/EWI Qualification
* Synthetic Training Experience

You should already be an excellent communicator, and you will be accustomed to working with different levels of ability so that you can nurture the full spectrum of students. You will be working in an environment which is heavily customer focused, ensuring the company always provides a first-class service. You will also: demonstrate leadership and management acumen in a multi-facetted business environment; have experience of multi-facetted flying disciplines, combining leadership and airmanship to provide a positive learning environment; be able to develop and update courseware with emerging ‘best practise’ and updates as required.
