Job overview
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large teaching hospital which provides a diverse range of services to the population of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The Trust is looking to recruit a Trust Grade Registrar (ST3-7 equivalent) in Renal Medicine. The posts is available from February for one year.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration. A minimum of four years post graduate experience is essential, ideally including prior experience working in a Renal department as the post holder will be expected to be on the renal on call rota dealing with renal and transplant emergencies.
Main duties of the job
You will join a well-established, forward thinking team that provides inpatient and outpatient nephrology and transplant services to the local population. This includes acute kidney injury, chronic dialysis services, and acute and chronic transplant services. We carry out around 80 adult renal transplants per year, we have around 720 transplant patients under regular review, 380 patients on Haemodialysis, and over 100 on Peritoneal Dialysis.
This post is not recognised for specialist medical training purposes, but successful candidates should have access to the same teaching opportunities and educational supervision as trainee colleagues. There will be an opportunity to learn practical procedures such as tunnelled dialysis catheter insertion and kidney biopsy. The posts are ideal for doctors wishing to gain further experience of the management of patients with renal problems and for those considering a future nephrology career in the UK but wishing to gain more experience prior to an application for a training post.
The post holders will work alongside the other Speciality Registrars and will contribute to their out of hours on call rota.
