An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the TASC Research Nurse Service within the Neuroprogressive and Dementia Research Network (NDN). The post will be based at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, but as this is a Tayside-wide role, you may also work at Perth Royal Infirmary and other sites as required.

The NDN is funded by the Chief Scientist Office and supports the delivery of clinical trials in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases. Research nursing offers a unique career path where you can apply your clinical expertise to improve patient care and contribute to the development of new treatments and pathways, with the ultimate aim of improving outcomes for patients now and in the future.

We are looking for a forward-thinking and compassionate professional to join our team and work on a portfolio of commercial and non-commercial studies. You will manage a caseload of study participants, providing the highest standards of care in line with clinical trial regulations, research governance and ICH Good Clinical Practice. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role involves close collaboration with Investigators, the Clinical Research Facility, other Network staff and clinical teams across inpatient, outpatient and primary care settings. You will also develop innovative strategies to ensure recruitment targets are met on time.

Experience of working with people living with neuroprogressive conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, dementia or motor neurone disease, and familiarity with clinical research procedures would be advantageous, but full training and support will be provided. Applicants should have an understanding of research within the NHS, post-registration clinical experience and evidence of professional development. You will need excellent organisational and IT skills and the ability to work to achieve study targets.

This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop new clinical skills and gain experience in the management and delivery of clinical trials.
