QC Microbiology Technician - Swindon
Opportunity:
This is a brand new position created due to expansion. The role is for an experienced Microbiologist who will carry out high‑volume microbiology testing on finished drug products.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct QC Microbiology testing on finished drug products.
* Support QC Scientists in microbiology testing.
* Maintain the microbiology laboratory.
* Maintain stock levels and prepare logbooks.
* Maintain lab equipment, including VLF Class II cabinet, boiling water bead baths, media preparation (pH testing of media, autoclave waste & sterilisation of equipment).
* Maintain weekly stock culture isolates.
* Wash micro glassware and use the glass washer.
* Conduct in‑process sampling testing when required.
* Collect environmental monitoring samples as required.
* Conduct growth promotion testing of incoming goods.
Skills and Qualifications
* Clean shaven; no makeup allowed in the clean rooms.
* Microbiologist qualification or equivalent.
* Ideally experience within the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated environment.
* Good IT skills – Word, Excel and Outlook.
This is a 12‑month contract based in Swindon, with 37.5 hours per week Monday‑Friday 09:00‑17:30, PAYE rate £13.58 per hour.
