Colchester Hospital are looking for a Biochemistry Laboratory Manager to manage the Biochemistry staff and coordinate the day to day activities within our UKAS accredited laboratory. The Biochemistry laboratory has high-volume automation from Roche Diagnostics and the LIMS is Clinisys Winpath
You must be confident and motivated and possess a wide range of skills demonstrating excellent leadership and training and management of junior staff. You will have good knowledge of the medical laboratory accreditation standards to ensure the department maintains accreditation and meets regulatory compliance.

About our Pathology Service
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible as lead Healthcare scientist for Biochemistry
2. Manages and coordinate the day to day activities of the Biochemistry
3. Leads on service improvement
4. Process highly specialist investigations and responsible for standard and quality of results of the service.
5. Provide expert advice, opinions training to own and other professions in specialist area of activity.
6. Provide specialist training and manage team training for Biochemistry and Specimen Reception working with the Training Lead.
7. Deputise for the Service Manager in all aspects of their role including human resources, finance and Health and Safety.
8. Maintain and promote professional image of the pathology department.

9. Highly specialist knowledge and experience in a specialised analytical or clinical area relevant to post
10. Experience of managing people and leadership

12. Practical experience of Quality Management Systems
13. Experience of performing and evaluating Risk Assessments
14. Extensive practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory
15. To have undertaken Research, Development and audit activities.
Desirable
16. Previous relevant experience of working in the NHS
17. Relevant scientific publications
18. European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent
Education

19. HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist or Clinical scientist
20. Science Degree or equivalent
21. Appropriate Post Graduate Masters degree or equivalent.
