Your New Role
As theLead Fire Safety Adviser, you will be a key member of the Health and SafetyTeam within the organisation's central compliance and governance function.Reporting to the Head of Occupational Health and Safety, you will lead on allaspects of fire safety across a multi‑site academic, residential, and research estate.
You willact as the organisation's competent person for fire safety, providing expertadvice on legislation, policy, and best practice. Your responsibilities willinclude developing and implementing fire prevention and protectionarrangements, managing the fire risk assessment programme, delivering training,supporting emergency evacuation procedures, and overseeing Personal EmergencyEvacuation Plans (PEEPs). You will work closely with a wide range ofstakeholders, including staff, students, NHS partners, and third‑partytenants, to ensure an effective, resilient, and legally compliant fire safetyculture.
What You'll Need to Succeed
You willbring extensive knowledge of UK fire safety legislation along with relevantprofessional qualifications such as Fire Risk Assessor Level 4, Fire RiskDiploma, or professional membership of the IFE. Substantial experience managingfire safety within complex organisations is essential, alongside stronganalytical, problem‑solving, and influencing skills. You will beconfident advising on fire safety principles, able to communicate effectivelywith diverse stakeholder groups, and committed to embedding a positive safetyculture.
