The Royal Institute of International Affairs is an independent policy institute based in London. We are seeking a Corporate Fundraising Sales Coordinator who is passionate about global affairs to join our fast-paced and friendly Corporate Fundraising team. This highly collaborative role will hold direct responsibility for delegate management and sales across our portfolio of commercial events. The post holder will also provide essential support with lead generation to secure new business through corporate membership.

Through high-level commercial events and corporate membership, the Corporate Fundraising team generates vital unrestricted income for the Institute. Our research and convening brings together influential voices from government, business, academia and civil society. As a valued team member, you will build on skills in sales, market research, audience building, business development and data analysis while gaining unique insight from world leaders, policymakers, business leaders and decision makers who constitute our membership base and regularly engage through our events.

Responsibilities

* Secure paying delegates across our commercial conference portfolio in line with revenue targets.
* Be the main point of contact for delegates and respond to commercial events enquiries in an appropriate and timely manner.
* Manage incoming queries related to corporate membership prospects, redirecting them to the appropriate colleagues and arranging meetings where necessary.
* Manage leads generated from our multi-channel marketing campaigns, converting them into paid bookings.
* Manage delegate income, including providing sales forecasts, generating reports, and coordinating with the finance team to raise invoices.
* Share regular updates on registered and prospective delegates during project team meetings.
* Create persuasive copy and materials for marketing channels and social media to raise the profile of Chatham House’s convening and target specific audiences.
* Keep the CRM up to date and maintain active sales records and a pipeline of leads.
* Work with the Business Development Manager to develop prospecting pipelines and support in identifying opportunities for cross-selling.
* Attend occasional external events to produce additional leads and increase Chatham House’s visibility.


People

* Build and manage relationships with prospective delegates to generate new business and repeat conference bookings year-on-year, including fostering key relationships to develop group bookings.
* Manage event participant accounts from registration through to attendance, including handling all event communications and joining instructions.
* Assist the Business Development Manager with building prospect lists and conducting data research to identify new business opportunities.
* Set up and join new business development meetings where required, and help with proposal writing.
* Assist with the delivery of corporate events and actively gather feedback from attendees to inform future improvements.
* Represent the organisation at events, using networking skills to identify and engage potential delegates and members.


Strategy

* Proactively develop an understanding of our key audiences, using market research to develop a sales pipeline of conference delegates and prospective corporate members.
* Work with the Marketing Manager to produce benefit-led sales copy, reflecting market trends and expert insights to serve the needs of our commercial audience.
* Conduct post-event analysis of delegate sales trends to identify risks, growth opportunities and areas for improvement.
* Recommend enhancements to sales processes, with the aim of generating new inbound leads and maintaining a strong sales pipeline.
* Bring together diverse, global communities of policymakers, business leaders and civil society representatives to ensure engaging discussions that make change happen.
* Identify potential new channels for outreach audiences to attract paying delegates and corporate member prospects.
* Contribute to the delivery of Chatham House’s EDI strategy.


Essential Experience

* Sales experience, ideally but not limited to conferences and/or events.
* Previous experience in a professional office environment with knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics).
* Ability to collate and analyse data using Microsoft Excel.
* Experience of working in a think-tank, research institute or NGO (desired).
* Previous experience in Delegate Sales, Membership, Donor Relations, or similar roles is preferred, along with interest in expanding your scope of work (desired).

* Confident communication skills when engaging potential and existing prospects.
* A willingness to contribute to collective objectives and work across teams and with individuals at all levels, with sensitivity and diplomacy.
* Knowledge of social media and marketing platforms with a creative and compelling approach to copywriting.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
* Ability to prioritize and take initiative.
* A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Discretion in handling confidential information.


Benefits

Benefits include approximately 37 days annual leave (including public holidays and Chatham House closure days), pension salary exchange, employee assistance programme, parental leave, flexible working and other benefits designed to suit your lifestyle. Salary: £29,000 per year.

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Location: St James's Square, London. This is a hybrid role based in our London office. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite at least 2 days per week.
