Job Title: HGV Mechanic Location: Smethwick, West Midlands Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum (DOE) This is the maximum pay for the role Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time Opportunity Overview We're recruiting for an experienced HGV and Commercial Vehicle Mechanic to take full ownership of our client's small workshop in Smethwick. This is a perfect role for a qualified vehicle technician who enjoys working independently and wants autonomy in their daily work. Our client operates across two sites with approximately 18 staff, providing maintenance services to their commercial clients. They require a skilled all-rounder to maintain their mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles. The Role This is a fully independent position where you'll be: The sole mechanic responsible for all workshop operations Working autonomously with complete ownership of vehicle maintenance Handling everything from routine servicing to complex repairs Managing your own workload and workshop space Key Responsibilities Conducting full servicing, repairs and maintenance on HGVs and commercial vehicles Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems Performing MOT preparations and ensuring DVSA compliance Completing welding and fabrication work when required Maintaining accurate service records and documentation Keeping the workshop organised and compliant with H&S standards Essential Requirements NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds qualification in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience with HGVs AND commercial vehicles Proven ability to work independently in a workshop environment Strong diagnostic skills across multiple vehicle systems Experience with both mechanical and basic electrical repairs Full UK driving licence (Class C desirable but not essential) Ideal Candidate Profile We're looking for a qualified mechanic who: ?
