The Role: MFL Teacher (French / Spanish)
You will deliver engaging and effective Modern Foreign Languages lessons across Key Stages 3 & 4. Your primary goal will be to inspire students to achieve their full linguistic potential, build their confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and cultivate an appreciation for diverse cultures.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality MFL lessons (e.g., French, Spanish, German) that cater to a range of abilities and learning styles.
Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident to experiment with language.
Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development towards GCSE or A-Level.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the MFL curriculum and departmental resources.
Utilise a variety of teaching methodologies and resources to make language learning exciting and relevant.
Foster cultural awareness and global citizenship through language education.
Participate actively in the wider school community, including extracurricular language clubs or events.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the MFL department and across the school.
Who We're Looking For:
Qualified MFL Teacher (QTS / ECT):
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g., QTLS).
Strong subject knowledge in at least one Modern Foreign Language (e.g., French Teacher, Spanish Teacher, German Teacher), with the ability to teach to GCSE level (A-Level desirable).
For Early Career Teachers (ECTs): A strong passion for MFL and a desire to develop your teaching skills within a supportive induction programme.
For Experienced Teachers: A proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Outstanding classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork abilities.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
(Consider if you are open to unqualified teachers with specific experience - use with caution for QTS roles, usually more for support roles)
We may consider applications from highly experienced, unqualified individuals with a strong background in MFL and significant experience working with young people in an educational setting, who are committed to gaining QTS.
