Specialist Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support (Long-Term Temporary Role)
Location: Specialist School, Dibden Contract: Long-Term Temporary Hours: Full-Time (term-time only) Start Date: ASAP
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a committed and empathetic Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking Specialist School, providing essential support to pupils who face emotional and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
* Help implement personalised learning and behaviour plans.
* Support pupils in regulating emotions and developing coping strategies.
* Promote positive relationships and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
* Calm, resilient and able to respond effectively to challenging situations.
* Strong interpersonal skills and a nurturing approach.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and de-escalation techniques.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach) are desirable but not essential.
