We are looking for a motivated and organised Inpatient Booking Assistant to join the Central Booking Office team at Borders General Hospital. This vital administrative role supports the scheduling of patients for surgery and ensures smooth communication and coordination across departments.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide daily administrative support to the Inpatient Scheduling Team.
* Act as the first point of contact for patients, handling calls and queries with professionalism and care.
* Manage patient records, correspondence, and case notes with accuracy and confidentiality.
* Perform general office duties including filing, photocopying, and data entry.
* Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
* Adhere to NHS Borders policies, including information governance and patient confidentiality.


Qualifications

Essential:

* Advanced keyboard and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
* Commitment to confidentiality and discretion.

Desirable:

* Experience in a healthcare environment.
* Familiarity with NHS systems such as TRAK, Nexus, and Infix.
* Knowledge of basic medical terminology and the Data Protection Act.
