Our client, a leading Civil Engineering and Infrastructure specialist, is seeking a HSEQ Manager join their team in Walsall.
As an HSEQ Manager, you will oversee and support multiple projects to ensure effective implementation of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems. Reporting to the regional Head of HSEQ, you will work closely with site teams and management, carrying out inspections to identify hazards, reduce risk, and drive continual improvement in HSEQ performance. You will actively promote HSEQ initiatives across the region while ensuring full compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities for HSEQ Manager:

Support multiple projects to ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) management systems
*
Provide leadership and guidance to site teams by identifying hazards, reducing risk, and driving continuous improvement in HSEQ standards
*
Promote occupational health and wellbeing initiatives across the region, including awareness campaigns and monthly focus themes
*
Act as a regional HSEQ lead, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, company policies, and best practices
*
Provide clear, consistent HSEQ advice and support to site teams and HSEQ Advisors
*
Line manage and mentor HSEQ Advisors, supporting their professional development and performance
*
Produce and review regional HSEQ performance data, identifying trends and implementing proactive improvement actions
*
Lead and support incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
*
Communicate lessons learned through alerts, briefings, and site stand-downs to prevent reoccurrence
*
Conduct regular site visits, audits, and inspections to monitor HSEQ compliance and close out actions in a timely manner
*
Champion quality initiatives and support “right first time” principles across projects
*
Build effective working relationships with clients and key stakeholders, including participation in HSEQ forums and meetings
*
Deliver HSEQ awareness training and support regional communication initiatives
*
Act as a role model for strong HSEQ culture, values, and behaviours
*
Provide HSEQ oversight and support for company premises, ensuring facilities meet legal and safety requirements
Experience Required for HSEQ Manager:
* NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent as a minimum, but ideally IOSH
* CEnv or equivalent as a minimum, but ideally associate ISEP (Institute of Sustainability &Environmental Practices)
* Extensive HSEQ experience within a civil engineering environment, experience in the rail sector would be beneficial but not essential
* Knowledge of quality controls associated with company work activities
* Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations
* High standard of written English
* Good communication skills, including a professional telephone manner
* People skills – ability to liaise with staff/operatives of all levels within the copmany
* MS Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Effective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills
* CSCS Safety Professional card
* Able to work as a member of a team, but capable of working alone to tight deadlines as appropriate
* Commitment to Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
Desirable:
* Level 3 AET or PTTLS preferred but not essential
* Working towards NEBOSH Diploma level 6
