My client are seeking an outgoing and ambitious Architectural Technician to join their growing business in Bedford.
You will join a growing design practice specialising in residential housing projects — from home extensions and refurbishments to bespoke new‑build developments.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of preparing detailed technical drawings, coordinating with clients and consultants, and ensuring full compliance with UK Building Regulations. You’ll play a hands‑on part in transforming planning‑approved designs into fully compliant construction packages.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for residential projects.
* Prepare and manage Building Regulations drawings and submissions to local authorities or approved inspectors.
* Ensure designs meet all current UK Building Regulations and guidance.
* Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to coordinate details and resolve compliance queries.
* Incorporate feedback and maintain meticulous document control and version tracking.
* Stay up to date with new construction methods, materials, and regulatory changes relevant to residential design.
About You
You’ll be technically minded, well‑organised, and comfortable managing multiple small‑scale projects at once. You will also enjoy building relationships with clients and have an eye on future projects.
Requirements
* Degree in Architectural Technology or Architecture.
* Experience in an architectural or design office, ideally within the residential sector.
* Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience advantageous).
* Thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations and domestic construction.
* Proven experience preparing Building Control submissions and technical details.
* Excellent communication and organisation skills.
* Full UK driving licence for attending site and client meetings.
