About the Role
The Security Operations Manager sits within the Business Operations department and plays a key role in ensuring that a safe and secure environment is provided across the Wales Millennium Centre site for all customers, visitors, staff, residents and retailers. The Manager is responsible for managing a team of 12 contracted security staff and the contract of an outsourced security provision that covers a 24/7 period. This position oversees compliance with licensing requirements and training protocols, day-to-day management of staff, and future planning for the security team to align with the WMC’s strategic vision and security and event legislation. The role is based on-site as the responsible person and requires strong leadership to drive the team and organisation forward while maintaining high standards on site. Your role will be subject to a DBS check before you start.
Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee all aspects of security operations across the site.
* Manage a team of 12 contracted security staff and an outsourced security provision covering 24/7 operations.
* Ensure compliance with licensing requirements and training protocols; oversee day-to-day management of staff.
* Plan for future security needs and ensure alignment with business objectives and legislative requirements.
* Act as the on-site responsible person and maintain high standards of safety and security during events.
* Lead the introduction and ongoing compliance with Martyn’s Law and other relevant legislation.
* Coordinate with departments to deliver seamless security for all events and venues.
Key Requirements
* Management duties: be the point of contact for the Security Team when absence from the zero hours team/agency makes covering necessary.
* Cover hours that cannot be covered by the Security zero hours team or Security agency.
* Proactively manage staff training to a high standard, including mandatory WMC e-learning and staying up to date with legislation from NACTSO/NCA and the SIA.
* Manage security rosters and administration for the teams.
* Ensure compliance for the security department (SIA licenses in place, up to date, and accurately recorded for auditing).
* Take leadership on introducing Martyn’s Law requirements coming into effect in 2025.
* Ensure seamless delivery of security for all events with proactive service delivery.
