Job Title: Technical Sales Consultant

Responsible to (Line): Operational Sales Manager
Job Purpose
As a Technical Sales Consultant you will play a pivotal role in engaging with new business contacts, providing expert guidance to companies of all sizes on their energy management strategies and carbon reporting requirements. Acting as a key point of contact, you will utilise a methodical approach based on technical understanding to ensure clients receive tailored solutions that enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales growth by leveraging your technical expertise to understand client needs, develop customised proposals, and recommend innovative energy solutions. You may be required to travel to clients sites, complete site survey and produce reports summarising this. Your ability to balance technical knowledge with commercial acumen will be essential in identifying business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and supporting customers in achieving their energy and sustainability goals.
Clients typically include technical staff from non-retail organisations such as manufacturing facilities, public utility providers, local authorities, and hospitals. You will work closely with key decision-makers within these sectors, helping them navigate complex energy challenges, optimise their energy consumption, and comply with regulatory requirements.
This role also involves collaboration with internal teams across sales, marketing, development, production, purchasing, quality, and research, ensuring seamless delivery of solutions and alignment with broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Identify and engage with potential clients, maximising business opportunities within designated sectors.
* Prospect for new business via various channels including outbound calling, networking as well responding to inbound sales enquiries.
* Present and demonstrate how company products and services meet client needs in terms of efficiency, cost savings, and compliance.
* Develop and maintain strong connections with business clients to gain an understanding of their sustainability objectives.
* Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
* Prepare client quotations, manage accounts, and oversee the sales process from initial contact to deal closure.
* Achieve sales targets and contribute to business growth by developing strategic opportunities.
* Collaborate with clients to deliver tailored sustainability solutions that optimise energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
* Conduct market research to identify potential business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
* Identify opportunities to expand sustainable energy services to existing clients, driving revenue growth while advancing environmental goals.
* Successfully onboard new clients and, as the Account Manager, provide them with continuous support during their ClearVUE journey.
* Any other duties that are deemed appropriate from time to time.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience in technical sales and/or business development,
* Strong grasp of energy efficiency strategies.
* Experience working towards targets and KPI’s
Desirable
* Bachelor's degree in Energy Management, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or any relevant field.
* Previous cold calling or networking experience
Skills and competencies
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across various levels.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
* Experience dealing with large commercial clients.
* Proven track record of delivering excellent customer support.
* Sound analytical skills, capable of clearly identifying and solving complex problems.
* Articulate and effective communicator with excellent written, interpersonal and presentation skills
* Good understanding of MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and CRM systems
