We’re looking for a Radiopharmaceutical Production Trainee to join our specialist team based at our state-of-the-art clinical imaging centre in Hammersmith, West London. The brief: to train to become a Cyclotron Operator. It’s quite likely you’ve never heard of a cyclotron – there are estimated to be only 20 or so of these sophisticated pieces of equipment in use in the UK. Essentially a particle accelerator, it’s used in medicine to produce the radioisotopes vital for diagnosing and treating various forms of cancer, neurological and heart conditions, amongst others. This is a rare opportunity to enter a highly specialised field with no prior cyclotron experience required. You’ll receive comprehensive training to operate and maintain the cyclotron systems we use to produce the radioisotopes we need to support our leading-edge work in clinical research. Key Responsibilities Learn to operate and monitor cyclotron systems and associated radiochemistry equipment. Support the production of radiotracers used in clinical trials and imaging studies. Perform system checks, sanitisation and basic diagnostics. Assist with gas supply management and energy centre operations. Support the safe handling and delivery of radioactive materials. Maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Participate in scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting activities. Contribute to continuous improvement and safety initiatives. What We’re Looking For A technical mindset and a strong interest in engineering or applied sciences. A degree, HND, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Physics or a related field is desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Willingness to work in a shift-based environment once fully trained, including night shifts on rotation. A proactive, safety-conscious attitude and a commitment to learning. Fluent English with strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Why Join Us?
