Overview
Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is hiring an Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) or Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to support mental health provision in schools and colleges.
Qualifications
* Qualified and registered EMHP or CWP with experience in CYP Mental Health Services, delivering individual and group treatments.
* Postgraduate experience with young people with emotional and mental health issues and evidence‑based CBT interventions for mild to moderate problems (anxiety, low mood, behavioural problems).
Responsibilities
* Conduct assessments of children and young people to identify mild to moderate mental health issues, including anxiety, depression and behavioural difficulties.
* Deliver evidence‑based low‑intensity individual and group interventions to children and young people and support families and carers.
* Provide training and consultation to schools and other agencies on mental health in children and young people.
* Support and facilitate staff in education settings to identify and manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing and to reference more severe cases to specialist services.
* Work collaboratively with EMHPs, CYPWPs, senior wellbeing practitioners and team leaders to maintain a whole‑school or college approach.
* Assist the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop a whole‑school or college mental health approach.
* Give timely advice to school and college staff, liaising with external specialist services to help children and young people get the right support and stay in education.
* Deliver low‑intensity evidence‑based interventions for children and young people in education settings with mild to moderate mental health problems and help those with more severe problems access specialist services.
Important information
The post holder will be based at the Milton Keynes Headquarters, currently located on the hospital site, with potential relocation to the Open University site.
The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users.
