About the Role
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive community primary school in Knotty Ash, seeking a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a meaningful impact on their educational journey.
You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 support for pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
* Facilitate small group interventions focused on literacy, numeracy, and social skills
* Assist with classroom activities, adapting materials to meet individual needs
* Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotional regulation
* Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the SENCO and class teacher
* Promote inclusion and encourage independence in learning
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in working with children with SEND, either in educational or care settings
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping children thrive
* Adaptable and proactive, able to respond to changing needs and situations
* A strong communicator with both children and adults, including parents and staff
* Knowledgeable about safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Qualified with relevant certifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential)
