Chef Opportunity at The George, Castleton

Hours: 40-48 hours per week (Full-time, Permanent)

We are situated in the heart of the Peak District, and looking to welcome a Chef to our kitchen team. We take pride in providing excellent all round service and wherever possible fresh, seasonal dishes with a strong focus on sustainability and local / home grown produce from our kitchen garden / no dig allotment.

About the Role:
As a Chef at The George, you'll work alongside The Owner as well as our Head Chef and a supportive team to deliver a varied traditional pub menu that celebrates the best of wherever possible homegrown ingredients. You'll be responsible for both preparation and service and may occasionally be required to work independently during quieter shifts.
This role offers a chance to grow and develop in a dynamic kitchen environment. We are open to applications from experienced chefs looking for a new challenge, as well as those at an earlier stage of their career who are eager to progress.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparing and cooking dishes to a high pub menu standard
* Contributing to the development of menu & Specials board ideas, particularly using produce from our kitchen garden & allotment
* Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards in line with regulations
* Assisting with the cleaning rota to ensure the kitchen remains well-organized
* Following directions from the Head Chef and the management team
* Occasionally working in our fast paced Pizza Truck, a unique part of our food offering
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking a Chef who is:

* Passionate about food and interested in sustainability
* Willing to learn and contribute to the development of our kitchen offering
* Able to commute to Castleton (own transport is advantageous.)

A potwasher is on shift all day everyday to ensure that the chefs are free to concentrate on the cooking side of things & We also run the

Our kitchen uses the digital food safety system to streamline compliance and improve efficiency. The system includes automated fridge temperature monitoring, WiFi probe, digital checklists, and allergen management tools, helping chefs stay focused on the cooking side while ensuring the highest food safety standards are met. It's a modern, stress-free solution to keep our kitchen safe, clean, and inspection-ready, while removing the paperwork side to a digital format.
We also run a variety of sustainability projects, including:
* An award-winning kitchen garden
* Beehives producing our own honey (fingers crossed)
* Homemade chutneys, jams, and gins from the produce grown
* Solar power-heated greenhouses for growing & a Glass Kiln
* Wine bottle recycling to create unique serving dishes in the glass kiln
