In this role, you will ensure the sites remain operational through effective maintenance and statutory compliance, with a specific focus on mechanical plant. You will also manage small to medium-sized projects, promote health & safety, and work with procurement to secure high-quality contracted services.
The ideal candidate will be either a hands-on facilities manager or a mechanically-biased facilities engineer looking to step into management. You will have a strong mechanical facilities engineering background, with excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
This is a great opportunity for a facilities manager who is currently out of work, or a mechanical facilities engineer seeking to move into a leadership role. You'll be technically challenged, given autonomy, and have the opportunity to make a real impact on an already impressive building.
The role:
Ensure continuous site availability through effective maintenance programs and statutory compliance, focusing on mechanical plant.
Manage small to medium-sized projects, including mechanical installations, upgrades, and repairs.
Oversee health & safety standards with contracted resources, ensuring safe work practices.
Work with Procurement and Estates to secure high-quality, cost-effective contracted services.
Support the development of a skilled estates team, ensuring customer-focused service delivery.
Manage mechanical maintenance, including BMS systems, HVAC, and gas infrastructure, and respond to emergency maintenance needs.
Develop and update asset management systems, implement energy efficiencies, and ensure accurate maintenance and compliance records.
The person:
Have a strong hands on mechanical facilities/ building service engineering background.
Live in a commutable distance to Newcastle.
Happy with a 6 month contract role with the potential to go perm (highly likely)
Candidates will ideally have some management experience but candidate who don't but want to move into management
