Working as a key member of the team providing direct clinical care to patients you will be required to undertake a competency framework as part of your training and induction, and be willing to work towards relevant qualifications that are appropriate to the role.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Physiotherapy Health Care of Older People (HCOP) team on a full time permanent contract – 37.5 hours week.

The core hours are Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm. The successful applicant will also be required to work on a rota system to cover weekends and bank holidays.

There is the expectation to work cross campus as we have HCOP beds on both city and QMC campus.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious team player with the ability to use their initiative, work flexibly and be self‑motivated, who can demonstrate excellent communication skills.

You must have a NVQ/QCF Level 3 in healthcare or an equivalent GCSE grades A‑C or equivalent in Maths and English. You must also have experience of working in therapies within a care setting at a band 3 level or equivalent.

Main duties of the job

* Have your own caseload and use clinical decision‑making tools to screen referrals, plan assessments and treatments to support discharge of patients under the supervision of a senior therapist.
* Work across OT and Physiotherapy within the HCOP team as a generic therapist.
* Promote wellbeing, safety and independence within essential activities of daily living, providing advice and treatment to the patient or their carers.
* Assess and provide a range of equipment to promote independence and refer onto appropriate services following discharge.
* Work closely with the MDT to discuss caseload management.
* Perform non‑clinical duties including general admin and housekeeping; opportunities to build leadership and management skills supervising band 2 assistants and band 3 therapy support workers.
