Role Overview
The Site Manager will work in the project team under the leadership of the project leadership and will share the responsibility for the successful delivery of any given project to the client’s satisfaction and in accordance with Sewell Construction policies, procedures and cultural approach, known as Construction Excellence.
The role responsibilities are split into the cultural requirements known as “Software” and technical and procedural requirements known as “Hardware”.

Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver as a single team, working collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, design teams, and internal colleagues.
2. Motivate the delivery team and lead by example, conveying the pace and energy of the project.
3. Share responsibility for performance management of the supply chain, recognizing outstanding performance and addressing underperformance.
4. Maintain honest and open communication with clients and end users to foster continuous feedback and improvement.
5. Support project completion and address post-completion defects.
6. Ensure safe delivery of projects, monitoring compliance against risk assessments.
7. Coordinate safety documentation, review Method Statements and Risk assessments.
8. Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and implement corrective actions.
9. Conduct weekly site inspections and accompany Safety Advisors and HSE inspectors during visits.
10. Implement rules derived from the Health and Safety Policy.
11. Manage project finances to meet targets and minimize wastage.
12. Protect business interests through proper contract implementation.
13. Support the team to ensure the design is buildable, coordinated, and compliant with legislation.
14. Plan and program short-term milestones for project delivery.
15. Manage supply chain expectations to ensure quality standards are met.
16. Report quality incidents and provide feedback on subcontractor service quality.
17. Promote a ‘right first time’ attitude through pre-start briefings and ongoing reinforcement.
18. Ensure contractor quality plans are followed and inspections are conducted as per the plan.
19. Support environmental performance, ensuring compliance with laws and minimizing disruption.
20. Report environmental incidents and take actions to reduce impact, pollution, and waste.

Requirements

* Hold a full UK driving licence.
* Qualified at NVQ Level 6 or above and hold a valid 5-day CITB SMSTS Certificate.
* Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects and subcontractors.
* Strong leadership qualities.
* Experience with programming and web-based document storage software.
* Positive and professional attitude.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent computer literacy, especially in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Proactive attitude towards delivering high standards.
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients and subcontractors.
* Good organizational and prioritization skills.
* Enthusiasm for learning and development.
* Flexibility in working hours, including some out-of-hours work.
* Knowledge of current Health and Safety practices.
* Experience working with both public and private sector clients.
* Professional qualification relevant to the role or working towards one.
* Experience or training in BIM (Building Information Modelling).
