Year 1/2 Teaching Assistant | Accrington (BB5)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in the BB5 area starting after the Easter break. This is an ongoing contract with a strong potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
The Role:
Working across Year 1 and Year 2, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils during a key transition in their education. You will work closely with class teachers to deliver interventions, support Phonics (Read Write Inc. or similar), and help create an engaging, inclusive learning environment.
* Start Date: After Easter (April 2026)
* Location: Accrington / Oswaldtwistle area (BB5)
* Contract: Ongoing, Full-time (Term Time Only)
* Pay: £85 - £100 per day (depending on experience/level)
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for Literacy and Numeracy.
* Lead Phonics interventions to boost reading progress.
* Assist with classroom management and preparing learning resources.
* Support children with varied needs, ensuring every child can access the curriculum.
* Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for young learners.
What We Are Looking For:
* Experience: Previous experience working in a UK Primary School (ideally KS1).
* Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred.
* Skills: A solid understanding of the KS1 curriculum and Phonics.
* Attributes: Patient, creative, and a true team player.
* Compliance: Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
