Go back Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHSFT

Clinical Psychologist

The closing date is 04 July 2025

This is a fantastic opportunity for an early career Clinical Psychologist to work with an older adult cohort in a post split between an acute ward and the community. The successful individual will work within a well established multi-disciplinary team in the acute setting to provide psychological care and treatment planning to those both informal and detained under the Mental Health Act with either an organic or functional diagnosis.

The post spans the community with some time into both the Recovery and Memory teams along with two Trainee Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAPS) entering their last year of training. Furthermore, the Psychological Therapies team for Older Adults across the acute and community Directorates also includes two Assistant Psychologists and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist based on the ward (supervising this post).

The North Lincolnshire Care Group is a well-connected and supportive team, linking well with our Adult counterparts, the Crisis and Home based Treatment team and Care Home Liaison. There are also some strong links and joint working with Talking Therapies.

There will be good support for your early career and we would welcome applications from those about to qualify.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will eventually lead, with support from the Consultant, a community provision for Clinical Psychology in North Lincolnshire for the assessment, treatment and support pathway for Older Adults with both a functional and organic diagnosis. The postholder will also provide psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention to inpatients, along with consultation to the inpatient multi-disciplinary team.

In terms of leadership, the postholder will assume, after completing appropriate training, the supervisory responsibilities for junior Clinical Psychology staff.

There will be an expectation to engage with keeping up to date with mandatory training and their own clinical and line supervision.
