CYP Clinical Co-ordinator MHST

Are you ready to take the next step in your career and help shape the future of young people’s mental health? We are looking for a professional passionate about early intervention and experienced in promoting children, young people and caregiver mental health.

The Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are funded by NHS England with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties in Cheshire schools.

This role will involve remote/hybrid working; however, there will be a requirement to work from a CWP base on certain days and visit schools across the district.

We are recruiting 3 full‑time positions, two in West Cheshire and one in East.


Main duties of the job

* Lead day‑to‑day clinical practice to ensure safe, effective, evidence‑based delivery.
* Oversee clinical governance, including risk management, safeguarding, incidents and quality assurance.
* Support complex cases and risk escalation.
* Provide clinical, case‑management and reflective supervision to EMHPs, CWPs and trainees.
* Manage triage, allocation and caseload flow for timely interventions.
* Act as the key clinical link for schools, 0‑18 CYPMHS, safeguarding teams and local partners.
* Support schools with MHST pathways, referrals and intervention options and strengthen collaboration.
* Contribute to service improvement, audits and evaluation.
* Use data and feedback to improve access, outcomes and experience.
* Support innovation in digital delivery and screening.
* Provide specialist assessments, formulations and professional consultation to schools and agencies.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Regulated with one of the following regulatory bodies: HCPC, NMC, Social Work England, Association of Child Psychotherapists.
* Degree level or equivalent qualification in health or social care related subject (past Nursing diploma also accepted). Social workers registered with Scottish or Welsh regulatory bodies would be expected to register with the English regulatory body upon acceptance.
* Practicing at masters level or equivalent as evidenced by qualifications, postgraduate studies and relevant experience.
* Nationally recognised post‑qualification continuous professional development (CPD) related to the core profession.
* Leadership qualification or equivalent experience.
* Masters or equivalent level qualification in health/social care.
* Therapeutic training to a recognised level.


Knowledge and Expertise

* Sound knowledge of current professional staff and team development and continuous service improvement.
* Knowledge of current legislation relating to MHA and Children’s Act.
* Information management and technology skills.
* The ability and knowledge to signpost to other services.
* Recognition of the interface between physical and mental health for children, young people and carers.
* Knowledge of the principles of CYP‑IAPT.


Experience

* Significant experience working within children and young people’s mental health.
* Multi‑agency/professional working experience.
* Experience of delivering clinical and line‑management supervision.
* Effective delivery of managing quality and change improvements.
* Evidence of management experience or further development within a leadership course.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Salary: £49,387 to £56,515 a year, pro rata.
