Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to cover maternity leave joining the CNS team within the Breast Screening Unit at the Bristol Breast Care Centre. Supporting clients who have been recalled from screening mammograms with abnormalities that require further investigation, supporting these clients through additional tests and offering a telephone results service on a weekly basis. In addition, the role involves health promotion around the importance of screening/breast awareness.
Main Duties of the Job
* Supporting clients recalled for assessment following routine breast screening mammograms.
* Supporting clients with further tests that may be required.
* Attending Breast MDT meetings and relaying benign results of biopsies to ladies.
* Health promotion across all areas of the screening programme, including poor uptake areas and additional learning needs areas.
Detailed Responsibilities
* Supporting clients through the process of being recalled following a routine mammogram.
* Supporting clients who are undergoing further tests following a recent screening mammogram.
* Advising clients around the importance of breast screening and breast awareness, including health promotion within the community.
* Attending the Breast MDT and delivering results in a sensitive and informative manner either via telephone or face‑to‑face.
* Participating in local audits relevant to the role/department.
* Working autonomously but also as part of the wider Breast team.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* RGN Level 1 Registered Nurse degree.
* At least 4 years post registration experience.
* Capable of working with confidential and sensitive information.
* Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
* Excellent IT skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Counselling certificate.
* Breast cancer nursing module.
* Experience of delivering results in a sensitive manner.
