Health and Safety Advisor – Glasgow, Scotland
We have a current requirement for a Health and Safety advisor to join the business on a full‑time permanent basis; the role will be based in Glasgow on a hybrid working model. The overall purpose of the role is to ensure that the health, safety, environment and quality policies and procedures within WGM and its supply base are fully deployed & compliant with U.K. regulations and ISO standards across all our sites. This HSEQ Advisor will be site facing with an expected high degree of interface between site management and operational personnel.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide advice and guidance on all aspects of health, safety, environment and quality.
* Implement WGM and legislative HSEQ requirements.
* Compile accident and incident reports and undertake incident investigations as required.
* Collate accident statistics, categorise accidents and undertake trend analysis.
* Conduct safety and environmental audits and implement corrective measures as required.
* Prepare and review safety related documentation submitted by both internal and external stakeholders including Safety Plans, Training documents, Confined spaces, noise and vibration assessments, MSDS / COSHH data and assessments and Environmental risk assessments.
* Develop HSEQ related toolbox talks.
* Implement proactive and reactive safety measures as required.
* Develop HSEQ induction material.
* Undertake sub‑contractor compliance audits.
* Undertake site/office related risk assessments where required.
* Liaise with Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency or other government appointed bodies as required.
* Ensure site compliance with the WGM Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position you will have at least 3–5 years of previous experience within a health & safety role ideally within an engineering or construction environment. You will have an excellent working knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation. A NEBOSH Construction Certificate would be beneficial for the role, and travel to various sites throughout the country is required so a valid UK driving licence is essential.
