Finance Assistant – 12 Month Maternity CoverPlymouth | Full time | Monday to Friday Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of a large and successful retail organisation for an experienced Finance Assistant to join their Head Office finance team in Plymouth. This is a 12-month maternity cover opportunity within a well-established and growing UK business. You will join a busy finance function where accuracy, organisation and strong financial insight are valued. You will support the Overheads team and take responsibility for several cost centres. Your focus will be ensuring financial data is recorded accurately, deadlines are met and key variances are clearly identified. This role suits someone who enjoys working with numbers, spotting detail others miss, and keeping financial processes running smoothly.The role Your day to day responsibilities will include:
o Managing a selection of cost centres and balance sheet codes
o Processing expenditure invoices through the internal data capture system
o Ensuring invoices are processed in line with payment deadlines
o Reviewing nominal codes and identifying CAPEX, prepayments and accruals
o Posting monthly journals including accruals and prepayments
o Analysing costs against budgets and highlighting key variances
o Preparing rent payments on a monthly or quarterly basis
o Completing monthly business rates reconciliations
o Supporting fixed asset reviews and depreciation postings
o Preparing CIS submissions
o Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activity
o Supporting month end and year end processes
o Providing ad hoc finance support when required
What we’re looking for
o Previous experience in a finance or accounts role
o AAT qualification or similar preferred
o Strong attention to detail and organisation
o Confident analysing financial data
o Good communication skills
o Strong IT skills including intermediate to advanced Excel
