Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help deliver our regulatory responsibilities as the Enforcement Authority for the Reservoirs Act 1975 in England. The Reservoirs Act helps to ensure the safe operation and management of dams.
You will join the Compliance and Monitoring team, part of the Reservoir Regulation team within the Environmental Assessment and Reservoir Regulation department of the Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Directorate. The Reservoir Regulation team regulates more than 2140 large raised reservoirs in England. The team is nationally dispersed and some travel and overnight stays will be required.
Role details
Position: Part-time job share (22.2 hours per week). This is a national role and you can be based at any Environment Agency office.
Interviews will take place remotely on Microsoft Teams during the week commencing 06 October 2025.
Responsibilities
* Monitor compliance with the Reservoirs Act 1975 for the 2140 reservoirs in England.
* Manage day-to-day correspondence and record incoming documentation on our database to ensure records are accurate and up to date.
* Encourage compliance when reports or certificates are not received as expected.
* Act as the first point of contact for reservoir owners and panel engineers.
* Provide information and advice on the requirements of the Act.
