Role Overview
This role supports the commercial governance of our contracts with key consultancies and contractors. You will help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and long‑term partnership arrangements, delivering value for money for the Agency and society.
You will be an integrated part of our national Commercial Assurance and Framework Management (CAFM) team, providing country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community. The position will fast‑track your development of commercial and contractual expertise.
All staff are required to undertake incident response training and may be called upon to participate in incident response duties when needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
* Coordinate and manage pathfinder programmes to embed best practice and develop collaborative partnership arrangements.
* Provide country‑wide commercial assurance and governance support to Integrated Delivery Management teams.
* Build and maintain excellent internal and external relationships, becoming an expert in contractual and commercial interpretation.
* Support incident response duties as part of the incident response role.
Essential Education / Skills / Behaviours
* A‑Level qualifications, Level 3 qualifications or equivalent.
* Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document‑management skills.
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks, and deliver value for money.
* Administrative skills – strong organisation, minute‑taking and report drafting.
* Willingness to shadow and undertake long‑term professional qualifications (e.g., NEC training, CIPS).
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Education / Professional Requirements
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
* Working towards status with a recognised professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
* Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
