We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and resilient SEND Teacher to join a dedicated team from September.
Tradewind Recruitment are in partnership with a small independent special school that provides a highly personalised education for up to 14 pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Most pupils are non-verbal and have a cognitive age equivalent to pre-school children. All pupils have complex needs and present with behaviours which challenge, and many have experienced significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
About the Role:
Planning and delivering engaging, tailored learning experiences to meet the individual developmental and sensory needs of each pupil.
Leading a small class team (including Teaching Assistants) to provide consistent, nurturing, and structured support.
Embedding trauma-informed, attachment-aware practice in all aspects of teaching and class management.
Promoting emotional regulation, wellbeing, and learning through predictable routines, sensory integration, and relationship-based approaches.
Managing and responding calmly and reflectively to behaviours which challenge as expressions of need or distress.
Collaborating closely with therapists, families, and multi-agency professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child's education and care.
About You:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with substantial experience teaching pupils with SLD, PMLD, or complex needs.
